Sun, sea and pregnancy

Pregnancy changes the hormone melanin, which causes tanning of the skin, known as chloasma. Darkening is most notably nipples, abdomen and sometimes the face. Because some of these changes in skin color may be permanent, it is best not to be exposed to direct sunlight and use a moisturizer with sunscreen.

Beach, sunbathing, swimming

Summer is probably looking forward to the presentation of his beautiful, pregnant body to the sun. Before you do this, be sure to read the information.

You must have heard many stories about how hot babies in the womb while their mothers are basking in the sun to overheat, etc.. That's not true! Your baby is not hot in the stomach, also does not freeze when it is cold outside.

But the heat and sun exposure can harm you!

There are things that should be kept, such as: too long in the sun and overheating, burns and skin damage.

You may have noticed that you are in the pregnancy constantly hot (and the rest of the world wrapped up in warm sweaters) and the more you sweat. Now that summer is more likely that it will be even hotter.

While it will not harm your baby, it is very annoying to you, so pay attention to you is not too hot and not dehydrated.

Here are some tips that will help you to feel comfortable:

- Avoid being in the sun between 10 am and 15 pm

- If you are on the beach, do not lie in the sun for more than an hour, it is best to rest in the shade

- Use skin protection with high factor

- If you feel dizzy, nauseous or tired, go to inside or shade

- Wear garments made of pure cotton

- Wear a wide-brimmed hat when you're out

- Drink plenty of fluids and always keep a bottle of water with you

- If you feel that you are too hot to eat, make iced smoothies, eat fresh fruit or a salad.

- Suck on ice chips throughout the day

- Walk barefoot whenever you can

- When you sit down, put your feet on an elevated or in a bowl of cold water

- Make sure you have a spray bottle of water and you regularly face or body spray water

- If you do not have air conditioning in the car, try to avoid traveling at midday

- To stay in an air conditioned office, before going out make a slight adjustment to the higher temperature that you expect out

Swimming is particularly useful in pregnancy. If you have a regular pregnancy and the doctor is allowed stay in the water, there is no obstacle to this summer, do not swim. Make sure that you only water is pleasant (not too cold or such. Too hot in the pool), that is getting into the water and getting used to its temperature. On his feet is best to have water shoes to avoid slipped and fell.

Swim slowly, a style that suits you best, without any sudden movement and fatigue. It is important that you are comfortable and swim to refresh. In the water you can run and gentle exercise your arms or legs.
It is very important that the water is clean. Be especially careful in swimming pools, rivers and lakes. If you're in the pool, swim when the water is clean and has a lot of people.

Once out of the water, it is best to change into dry swimsuit.

Your skin

Pregnancy can cause your skin to become more sensitive, and in particular to the protection of your skin.

The sun radiates light to the earth, and part of that light consists of invisible ultraviolet (UV) rays. When these rays reach the skin, they cause tanning, sunburn and other skin damage.

There are three types of UV rays: UVA, UVB and UVC. You need to protect against UVA and UVB rays as they can cause skin damage.

UV rays react with the hormone in the skin called melanin. This is the first defense of the skin from the sun and it absorbs dangerous UV rays before they seriously damage the skin.

Melanin is found in various concentrations and skin color: the darker your skin, the more melanin to protect. How to increase the amount of melanin in the sun, the skin dark. But even dark color that looks healthy, can be a sign of skin damage due to the effects of the sun.

If UV exposure greater than that which the skin can protect itself melanin comes to burns. What is your skin brighter, has less melanin to absorb UV rays and protection.

Regardless of color, leather suits continued exposure to the sun by the thick and hardens and causes stretchy skin and wrinkles (and it does not want, is not it?).

Unprotected sun exposure is dangerous if you have very light skin and hair, or if you have a family history of skin cancer, including melanoma.

Self-tanning creams

There are many types of lotions, creams and sprays for self-tanning. Many have been proven safe for use during pregnancy, but always before check with your doctor if you are in doubt. Even if you already use self-tanning preparations, test first on a small area of skin to avoid irritation.

Although there are no studies that conclusively prove that tanning beds are dangerous to the baby during pregnancy, many gynecologists do not recommend any action that will increase your body temperature. This includes a gym, hot tubs, sauna and solarium.

Holidays with the stomach

Before going to sea, I conducted a gynecologist so I was convinced that with pregnancy everything is fine and I can go to the sea and swim.

I was already 33 week of pregnancy and was quite a big belly. I'm due date is set to go to the sea is at the end of June.

We chose a place on the sea, which is not far to travel and close to a doctor's care and maternity services.During the trip, which lasted a few hours, we stopped several times in order to be refreshed, I went to the bathroom, walk. The car was air conditioned and we were careful that the temperature is not too low and that before going out to gradually increase the temperature and easier to adapt to the heat.

The seven days at sea I tried to get as much rest. Early in the morning, before it was hot, my husband and I we went to the ten-minute walk to get the paper and a cup of coffee. On the beach I spent the morning from 9 to 11 am and from 17 am to 19 pm (I was sure to rest and sleep in the room after lunch).

I lay in a hammock in the shade of pine trees with legs on high. I was just basking in the afternoon when the sun was already going down and it was very short (up to half an hour). Although easy dark, I used a cream with a high protection factor. The beach was drinking only water and eating plenty of fruit.

The most pleasant I was swimming, especially for my sore back. The more I came in slowly to get used to the temperature. I swam slowly and only because my breaststroke backstroke go a little harder. I knew it and take an inflatable pillow and float in the water, but not too long.

Although I mostly stayed in the shade, I got a nice dark color, and most importantly, I'm well rested and relaxed.
