Honey - an important food for pregnant women

Honey reduces nausea and vomiting, and back mood, and pregnant women should be taking it from conception.

Honey is a very important food for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children of all ages - says Verica Milojković, president of the Serbian society
- Pregnant women should take honey from conception, especially in the first three months of pregnancy, because it reduces nausea and vomiting, and back mood, enriched precious ingredients of the body, reduces fatigue, prevents anemia.
The need for iron during pregnancy is twice as large, and are advised to be taken three times daily, half an hour before meals, and at one to two tablespoons of forest and meadow honey, dissolved in a glass of water.
Studies done in the world show that taking honey during pregnancy and lactation improves somatic and intellectual functions of the child.
- High-value sugars in honey, organic acids, plant hormones, essential oils, enzymes, vitamins and minerals - improving children's appetite, stimulate digestion. The presence of iron, copper and cobalt in between, in short supply in breast milk, as well as folic acid, improves blood composition, correct anemia (increased number of red blood cells and hemoglobin concentration).
Mineral content of honey varies depending on the species: the darker the honey the more minerals, and vice versa. Simple sugars - glucose and fructose, which is rich in honey, in this form is easily absorbed.
